I wish more of Klosterman's skills were deployed for this book, because he's a great and insightful interviewer and the best stuff here comes from his conversations with 90s figures. Current Klosterman (I won't say "late," I want him to be around for a while) has experienced much more, talked to countless people, and gained access to infinite information sources unimaginable when he was growing up, and is just as interested in the cultural landscapes that we inherit. Early Klosterman gave us the insights of a smart kid from the Midwest who interrogated the pop culture bestowed upon his people - those born in the 70s who came of age in the 90s.
