For me, if I can\’t trust the timeline, I lose interest in the book. The story is referenced as taking place over months but if you actually count out the time that\’s not right. Time was all over the place in these books, too. Like, at least try and make some of this believable. This girl, who falls apart at every little thing, living with a guy. Two, she ends up living with him – why? She\’s 17! She can\’t even do her own dishes, orders out, and probably can\’t do her own laundry but ok let\’s put her in an adult relationship and pretend that\’s gonna work.

One of the hardest things to deal with was the insta love. She has tragedy in her life, but it gets pushed out by the shallow and petty. Riley is full of dumb decisions and tears. The series is full of tropes that don\’t carry because there\’s little actual plot or character development. Her solution is the same as it always is for her, kill the distractions.I was underwhelmed and mostly skimmed this last book. She wants to keep her empire safe and thriving, but lately she has been letting sex cloud her judgement. The truth is that the Timberwolves grew and evolved, and are now stronger than ever with her in charge. Of course, that was just the story that got out. She masterminded the massacre of the Tri-state Timberwolves five years ago that let the street red with blood and the Timberwolves extinct. That series begins with 7th Circle which introduces us to Hades. The Hades series, like the Madison Kate series, is set in Shadow Grove. The target of her hate is Archer D’Ath who just moved in down the hall. She is going to make someone pay for what they did to derail her plans. After being charged with a series of offenses, Kate is released with revenge on her mind.

Madison had a carefully laid out future which has been derailed. She is alive though and she believes that she was set up.

At least, that’s what they are saying and those words change Madison’s life forever.

The book starts with a bang as Madison Kate Danvers is murdered. Hate is the first book in the Madison Kate series. If You Like Tate James Books, You’ll Love…
